Outside Resources

Webinars, Links, & Files From Trusted Sources

Charibdis

We have not watched all of these webinars or studied all of the links and documents. They are from trusted sources, though, and we thought they might be helpful to our fosters. Most of these sites have much more worth exploring, so we're also providing you with links to the sources themselves. Some webinars may require registration.

Please bear in mind that, while animal welfare organizations have similar goals, not all organizations have the resources available to them that others might have. The organizations that produce these webinars often have larger budgets & staff  than smaller, local organizations. If you see something in one of these webinars that you think would be helpful to use in our shelter, however, feel free to ask us about it. We're constantly striving to improve our program!

Also note - one of these resources recommending a trip to the vet DOES NOT count as pre-authorization from the shelter. If you feel that your foster should see a vet, you need to contact the Foster Team by the methods described in the HSWC Resources page.

Some Trusted Organizations

Maddie's Fund

Lots of resources for foster families, spanning all kinds of fostering

ASPCApro

Meant for shelter staff more than foster families, but still good stuff. A lot of webinars. Requires registration

The Kitten Lady

All things bottle baby!

Fear Free Happy Homes

Meant for adopters, but there's a lot of great info here. Videos & articles, from young to adult.

Some Classes by Category

This is by no means comprehensive, it's just some of the classes we thought would be especially helpful. In order to make the list filterable, I needed to make a "shop", so ignore it when it says "contact us to purchase". Just click on the link below the picture. We're starting with getting some Maddie's Fund classes uploaded, then we'll get them from other sites. In the meantime, check out the links above! You can filter the class list both by "Collection" (Cats, Dogs, Medical, Behavioral, etc), by Class Type (Short Class, Fact Sheet, etc), and by Presentation Manner (Audio/Video or Text-Based). Enjoy!
